ESHMOR stands in Hebrew for the Collection, Preservation, Researching and Documentation of Cultural Heritage; ethics and scientific methods of heritage science, interpretation and methods of dating artifacts, etc., the archaeological heritage and the treasures of the modern era, will be taught in this advanced and comprehensive course in all their aspects Conceptual and practical aspects: documentation, cataloging, collections management, conservation and exhibition policy, museum and exhibition relations.
The course will be held in cooperation with the Yad Ben Zvi collections (the modern period, Israeliana) and an intensive day of study in the State Treasuries of the Israel Antiquities Authority. The workshop has two parts:
A. During the semester there will be background classes (two hours a week) on the following subjects: methods for research collections and objects, treatment and management.
B. During the semester vacation, a four-day practical workshop will be held for five days (equivalent to 2 credits) in the study of the collections of ancient and new collections, in which tools and objects will be taken care of. The last day of the week and the course will be used to summarize and present the project's outputs on the work areas of the teams.
It should be emphasized that the course will be attended by overseas students and guest lecturers, and part of it will be delivered in English.
